Providing counseling services for Hamilton Middle School Students
Hello. My name is Kim Lloyd, and I am continuing my journey as a school counselor. I am dedicated to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of every child. My goal is to support each student in navigating their academic journey and personal growth. I have been teaching for the past 21 years and will complete my Master's in Counseling in the Summer of 2025.
Hamilton Middle School will provide a nurturing yet challenging atmosphere that meets the varied developmental needs of middle school students. We will strive to create a distinctive and quality learning environment based on rigor, relevance, and relationships at the highest level to promote growth and learning opportunities. Our goal is to prepare Hamilton students to become productive citizens.
As a school counselor, my mission is to advocate for every student's social, emotional, and academic development. I am committed to providing all students with a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. By fostering self-awareness, positive relationships, and resilience, I hope to empower students to reach their full potential and overcome any challenges they might have come along their way.
A comprehensive counseling program is a systematic and organized approach that aims to help grow the "whole child" and address a student's academic, personal, and social needs.
The School Counseling Program should:
-encompass social-emotional, academic, and college and career planning to help students prepare for successful futures.
-be based on SMART-specific goals where parents' and staff's input are utilized.
-is developed by considering students from diverse, cultural, and ethnic population groups.
According to ASCA, the American School Counselor Association, comprehensive school counseling programs use a structured, holistic approach that is developed, delivered, and promotes student growth in career, academic, and personal/social development needs (ASCA, 2023).
The Texas Model explains that the overall mission of a comprehensive school counseling program should align with the school's mission statement and is designed to ensure all students have access to preventative and developmental counseling programs (TEA, 2018).
If you would like to contact the school counselor, please include any specific concerns regarding your child that may impact their school success. My email is Kimberly.lloyd@cfisd.net.
