Academic Success

Why are GOOD study habits important?

1. Consistency helps you develop the 'habit' of studying. Regular study times build discipline and help homework become party of your daily life.

2. Set a specific time each day to complete your homework. Stick to it even if you DON'T have homework, keep the habit going!

3. Parents- Help your child set a daily schedule

Setting SMART goals

Why is it important?

Setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals helps students stay focused and motivated.

WRITE DOWN SHORT TERM GOALS: "Finish math homework by 5pm". This helps your child set realistic goals and set small achievements.

Stay organized

Why is it important?

Staying organized helps prevent last-minute cramming sessions.

Use a digital or physical planner to keep track of assignments and deadlines.

Get enough Sleep

Why is it important?

Healthy diet and sleep helps support focus, memory, and overall academic performance.

Aim for 8-10 hours of sleep nightly.

Parents-encourage regular sleep patterns and provide healthy snacks

Literacy at Home

Creating a reading routine can help a child improve comprehension, critical thinking skills, and vocabulary.

Parents-Set aside 20-30 minutes per day to encourage reading at home from your middle schooler. Encourage reading from either fiction or non-fiction books.

Accessing Digital Libraries

Why it matters?

Digital resources are a great way to provide students with a wide range of books. Students may go to www.my.cfisd.net and access their 'portal' to look over digital catalog that CFISD provides to students.

Encourage Writing at Home

Why it matters?

Writing is a key component of literacy which helps a student express their thoughts, improve grammar, and develop writing creatively.

Tip for parents-Encourage your child to write daily through a journal or short story.

Parent Involvement

The Importance of Parent involvement

Why it matters?

Research shows that children with engaged and active parents tend to perform better academically, display stronger social skills, and have better attendance at school.

Tip for parents-Be active in your child's school life by attending school events, read email blasts from teachers, and stay informed about their progress by checking their grades online.

Where do I go to check my child's grades online?
