The Cypress Fairbanks ISD Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Curriculum is a district program that addresses the academic, personal, career, and social development of all students. It helps students navigate many developmental stages by preparing them for future careers, education, and life challenges (CFISD, 2024).
While offering students a comprehensive school counseling experience is paramount, it is also crucial to ensure that the program is designed for ALL students. Integrating the program throughout the entire district and school curriculum is a CFISD initiative. These goals are aligned with the TEA model that includes guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and system support (TEA, 2023).

Using SMART Goals with your students and using visuals that demonstrate this will help students set goals for themselves. In each counseling session, we are always working for an end goal. An example of this would be getting better grades, being more involved in extracurricular activities, building positive relationships, and dealing with issues such as divorce or bullying. This visual helps set a reminder for student accountability and allow the counselor to have record of a visual for students.
