At Hamilton MS, we are dedicated to making sure every students receives the individualized support where it is needed. Our special education department provides students with disabilities access to individualized instruction and accommodations to ensure success.

What is Special Education?

This is designed to meet the unique needs of students with daisalibites in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 2024). 

Section 504 is a federal law that prevents schools and other entities from discriminating against individuals with disabilities.

Section 504 ensures that students with disabilities receive necessary accommodations.

Who qualifies?

To qualify, the student MUST have a mental or physical impairment that substainally limits daily tasks at school (TEA, 2024).

The process involves:

1. Referral for evaluation

2. Eligibility Determination

3. Developing a Plan

4. Review and Revisions

Parents rights:

Right to Evalation & rights to be involved in meetings where the child is discussed.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a resource provided by the US Department of Education. IDEA is a federal law that ensures students with disabilities receive free appropriate public education (FAPE) based on the students needs (IDEA, 2024).
